Martin has lived, with his wife Denni, in Stanley Common since 2014. They love the area and have made many new friends in the parish. They can often be seen walking the local lanes and fields with their two dogs.
Martin began his career at Courtaulds in Coventry before moving to their offices in France and finally to Derby. During a commercial career lasting over twenty years he travelled extensively, especially to the Far East, gaining a great deal of experience in corporate negotiations.
Later, he formed his own office supplies business followed by directorships in an office interiors company and latterly in a very successful food retail outlet in Derby city centre.
Now retired, Martin offers a wide range of business skills that he believes can be used to support the Parish Council.
He also has a particular interest in the environment and intends to drive the Council's environmental policy forwards in the coming years.
Martin is a keen walker of Britain's hills and mountains and is currently attempting to climb all 214 Wainwrights in the Lake District in the calendar year preceding his 70th birthday.
